Wyvern is a centre for learning where young people of all abilities are encouraged to Advance from one academic target to the next. This commitment to move forward proves itself in the awards we have earned: Investors in Careers, Healthy Schools Award, and Investors in People, while in recognition of our community work Wyvern has been awarded Extended Schools Status.
At Wyvern we believe that excellent facilities, inspiring teaching and interesting courses all come together to suit the needs of the individual child. It is through this ethos that a lifetime of independent learning will be established.
Our contemporary facilities and investment in technology and the creative arts means that all students are encouraged to invent, explore, and discover their own potential.
Teaching at Wyvern is personal, professional and aims to tap into the interests and potential of each individual child, whatever their ability.
Since students enrol at Wyvern from successful primary schools, it is been possible to reduce Key Stage 3 from three years to two. This means that GCSE subjects may be studied over three years, offering students the opportunity to take exams when they are ready. Both maths and foreign languages have succeeded in this area allowing some are able to study to AS level. On a practical level, modern apprenticeships are available through local further education colleges.
We also have some students visit Sparsholt College each week following a course of Horticulture, they bring their knowledge back to Wyvern where they create their own garden.
