Wyvern Technology College is celebrating another vintage year with respect to examination results. The provisional results are that 67% of its students achieved the key performance measurement of five or more higher grade GCSE passes, including English and Maths.
Headteacher Alan Newton is delighted and says, "Apart from being our second best ever set of results, this represents a sustained high performance from the staff and students. Such consistency of teaching and learning achievement over several years now is highly prized. Students of all abilities have done really well which is why our average points score is the best it's ever been, and our high ability students have achieved the fantastic crop of A* and A grades that they richly deserve. Special mention should go to Hannah Lawless who achieved fifteen A* passes!"
In addition to the outstanding GCSE results, Year 11 students also did exceptionally well in extension courses for Gifted and Talented 16-year olds: 95% of entries achieved Grade A in the Free Standing Maths Qualification and 75% of entries achieved Grade A in AS-Level German, even though Wyvern is an 11-16 school.
The following table provides a summary of the Summer 2011 results. The figures are pending appeals and may change. Final results are usually published at some point in November and the table below will be updated accordingly. A breakdown of specific subject results is available on request from the college.
