About the Specialist Schools TrustThe Specialist Schools Trust is the lead body for the Government's specialist schools programme. It seeks to give more young people access to a good secondary education. Our mission is to build a world-class network of innovative, high-performing secondary schools in partnership with business and the wider community. The Trust is at the head of a network of over 2000 affiliated secondary schools, including the majority of the 1444 specialist schools - probably the largest network of its type in the world. Visit the Specialist Schools Trust website www.specialistschools.org.uk We are proud to be a specialist school - twice over. In the year 2000 Wyvern became a Technology College with additional funding for Science, Mathematics and Technology. Then in 2004, as a result of the college’s ongoing academic success, we were awarded a second specialism - Humanities with further additional funding for English and History. These extra funds have gone to into upgrading teaching facilities, providing interactive whiteboards , purchasing additional computers as well as increasing the staffing in these specialist areas. Of course it goes without saying that all areas of the college are special. Our music, drama and art, ICT, modern languages and physical education facilities are all of very high quality and represent some of the best facilities in the county. Technology and Humanities status advances our excellence by:
