How Year 7s become integrated into the Wyvern Community:

In the first term, our aim is to make the time of transition from primary to secondary school a very happy one for new students and we want to ensure that each individual feels welcome and secure. During year 6 a member of Wyvern staff visits students in their primary school.

In the summer term students have a taster day at Wyvern, touring the college, and meeting teachers. In the autumn, the Pastoral Leader for Year 7 works with dedication to ensure that tutor groups are integrated with old friends and new faces so that this first term at Wyvern is one of both familiarity and discovery.

Also in the first term, the new year 7 get to enjoy a team building day off-site. The day is always fun with many challenging tasks that consolidate friendships and generate an ethos of team spirit. In December, following a Christingle service, the year group is taken on a trip to the pantomime.

I like the teachers in maths: they really help me when I don't understand. They give me one-to-one attention and I am learning all the time.
